2018 … YOUR BEST YEAR EVER!

Have you ever heard a new idea … and then it shows up again from another person … and then again?

That happened to me in the past few months. I love that. I believe it means I’m supposed to pay attention to the idea.

Here’s what was told to me from three different people.

At the beginning of a new year, pick a “theme”. Write it down. Post it in different places. It’s your theme for the entire year.

For example, I met someone who chose “courage” last year. She energized herself with that simple word every morning and throughout the day on a stickee note. It was her “slogan”. It changed her life! She absolutely became more courageous in 2017.

So I’m giving it a try this year. I’m picking a theme.

I’ve decided to see more of the best in all things. When I think of goals and outcomes, I want to visualize the best. When I see difficult situations, I want to think of the best outcome. I want to see the best in my horses, other people and myself. So my theme this year is “See the best.”

Want to try a theme for yourself? Strive for how you can stretch yourself in a way that’s exciting to you.

If you want to adopt a theme for 2018, c’mon! Click the link below and share your theme with me.

Here’s to making this the best year ever! Let’s rock it!

PS … The energy of a theme that rings true for each one of us sure beats the heck out of resolutions. They feel tiring! A theme feels energizing (-:

  6. I’m picking “Grace”! Not only because my new horse is named Grace and I want to accomplish a lot with her this year but because I’d like to learn to not “react” to people’s negative comments and actions. I feel that Grace will help me let that stuff go and not be affected by it. All this will help me reflect more Grace in my life too.

  12. I don’t mean to be a copycat but “to see the best” fits as I strive for perfection in everything and only tend to see what needs done or improved upon and not what is present or what has been accomplished.

  14. My theme for 2018 is “ not to live in fear”

Fear creeps into my daily life all the time. In just the little things I do. I have been aware of it for awhile, but truly want to get a handle on it. Even doing this very thing, I’m afraid…..of letting some know my dreams, goals incase I dont accomplish them. But I will push submit👍

  16. Good for you, Janice! You could add the word ‘courage’ so you had an action word in the positive. Just an idea. You go!

  32. Have courage and be fearless, I have let fear creep into my life and this is not my normal, I’m holding back from my true potential because of this.

  34. There are so many themes I want to choose from but I think the perfect choice is “Filled with Love”. Because where Love is, there is no place for fear or doubts or negativity. You are at peace with yourself and others, you see only the best in people and different situations.

    Then is when,
    I AM ENOUGH
and able to be a contribution to the world.

  58. Happy New Year, Barbra!! Thank you for staying in touch with all of us throughout the year, always offering encouragement in many ways!! My repeating thoughts for the New Year of 2018–“Know God Better”, and “Wish Others Well” —The second one is from your “signing off” closure to us from some months ago. 🙂 These two recurring thoughts will lift my spirits and life.

  60. My words for 2018 is ‘move forward’. I lost my husband a year and a half ago. On a recent Hallmark Christmas movie, there was a line, ‘life is like a river, it keeps moving forward’. It is time I move forward with my life, not forgetting my husband but remembering that life goes on. I need to move with the river.

  61. Jill Roth on Mon, 1st Jan 2018 3:09 pm
  62. “Follow your Joy!” Because if I just follow what makes me feel bliss in my heart, 99% of the time it I the perfect choice!

  64. I have read everyone’s prior to my post , they are truly encouraging! Thank you all. I think my word is “Focus”, between business, family and cutting. I am pulled in so many directions, that i forget to give each of them my full attention as i am in the moment. So with that said I am dropping my old negative ” f” word and replacing it with ” FOCUS”!!! thanks Barbra for always being there for us, hope to see you in Parkfield.

  68. These are all so wonderful and I have many aspects in my life that need work, but one step at a time. This year I choose simplify. Release the things in life that take time away from what I enjoy.

  76. For my theme this year, I will choose, “have confidence and faith”. I want to ride with confidence and have faith in my horses. Usually, I am a little bit on the unconfident side of things.

  77. Cindy Gottlieb on Thu, 4th Jan 2018 4:11 pm
  78. Oh my goodness I agree with almost all of the themes that have been written here. But I have to say my theme would be the same as Karyn is “have confidence and faith” because my confidence has been rattled a couple of times in recent past ride and I want to ride confidently again and have faith that my horse and I are in tune with each other. Thanks for your web site it gives me strength.

  80. There are so many things in my mind, but I have to say ” Balance” in my life. I tend do alot for others, which is good. But sometimes I need me time. So I will ” Balance” my time and energy for a fuller wonderful life. Then I will have more to give , right?

  81. Maren Milton on Sun, 14th Jan 2018 2:09 pm
  82. I’m right there with you on that one! I hate change too! I need to “Let go and let God” more.

  83. Maren Milton on Sun, 14th Jan 2018 2:14 pm
  84. I would have to say “Just do it!” needs to be my theme. I’m stealing from Nike, but I need to Let loose and follow my heart more, which includes spending more time with my horses and less time worrying about what my husband thinks about it.
