Ensure Your 2024 Endeavors Persist

Happy New Year! Woo-hoo! The last time I saw you in a video was last year. (Oh man, the corny jokes. 🤩)

I’m delighted to do this video. I always feel like I’m with you, and I love that feeling.

I hope you had a great holiday. I enjoyed laying low a bit over the holidays. But now, I’m excited for 2024 – excited for a new year.

Hey, it’s Barb.

I was reflecting on aspirations and setting goals or whatever you like to do as you look to the future. We all have different kinds of ideas about that.

I have two thoughts about going for your dreams as you look into the future. These ideas will hopefully help you sustain your motivation for whatever you decide to go for for yourself and your horse.

First, whatever you choose to do, make sure it excites the heck out of you. Ideally, it’s within your reach but a little beyond.

The thought of it is so exciting that when you get there, you’ll do cartwheels across the lawn because it thrills you so much. (-: Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s easy. It just means you’re willing to do whatever it takes because it so resonates with you.

That’s the first thing.

The second thing is you’ll have a better shot at having it come alive, making it happen, and being consistent if you weave it into your current routine. You don’t need to change your life completely (unless you want to) to pursue your desires and goals. Just add it to your current regimen.

Those are my two things.

1. Make it joyful. Think of how you’ll feel, how excited you’ll be, and how much fun you’ll have along the way.
2. Weave it into what you’re already doing. Make some minor changes so you’ll stick with it as you keep your end goal in mind.

That’s what I have for you today.

Happy New Year, my friend. I’m looking forward to seeing you in the videos and, hopefully, some in-person events!

I’ll see you next time. Please leave a message. What do you think about these ideas – about joy and blending your aspirations into what you already do?

Bye-bye, and Happy New Year!

  2. Hi Barb and a very Happy New Year to you also. Thank you for the cutting clinic seminar you’re sharing with us . It’s very timely as my goals for this year is getting to the cutting pen and competing at some point. Your words of encouragement is icing on the cake as it’s helping me to keep my focus where I want to go. Last year had many disappointments, but now it’s a new year with much to look forward to. Thank you for Reading My Mind again!!

  14. Hi Barb, A very Happy New Year to you too!!! Thank you for always being there for us and encouraging us to really “think” and do some planning, rather than letting another year just pass us by. It’s winter, and cold, and MUDDY at my house, so I need to do some good positive goal setting that excites me. Thank you so much–:)

  16. Hi Barb
    Happy New Toy You To!

Joy is a great word this year, as my grand daughter was born and that’s her name!
    Joyful and fun times ahead.
I am anxiously awaiting warmer weather to ride more consistently and meet my goals of riding and preparing a difficult gelding, with a happy heart!

  20. Wow… this made my eyes tear up. I’m doing all you say. I know it helps because my horse showed me…. He was prepared to move those feet when called on to do it. So looking forward to what is coming our way. Thank you for all you do. Your wisdom has been a game changer!

  24. I love every thing you do , how you make things so easy and the love you have for Nic .
I am excited to join a dressage club as well as loaning a horse out for a lovely girl that loves horses but doesn’t own one . It makes my so happy to help her . Wish us well , it’s super cold here now but some say it’s going to be better one of these days . If that happens I will take a couple of horses to the arena that I ride in and see how I can get the girl going before show days . And to take a piece of what you might say ….. Don’t worry , enjoy the time on your horse and if things go and you have to start over remember this
It don’t matter . Keep going ! I have never forgotten that !
I sure wish we lived a lot closer to you !! Wat a lot of fun we would have !!!’
