Waves of Energy

I just finished doing a series of videos on preparation, which, as you know, is enormous for showing.I was in Newport Beach, California this past week. I had a little getaway with Tom and his golf group.

I was here at the beach this morning and it reminded of the idea of energy, waves, and recovery.

You may have heard me speak of this before.

Hey, it’s Barb.

I was in Newport Beach, California this past week. I had a little getaway with Tom and his golf group.

I was here at the beach this morning and it reminded of the idea of energy, waves, and recovery.

You may have heard me speak of this before.

The idea is that any time you put energy out (for riding it might be loping a circle or working a cow – or whatever for your discipline) it’s important that – at your first opportunity – get your energy back.

For example, during a natural pause in the action, you can condition yourself to lower your heart rate, breathe, relax, slow your brainwave pattern (which allows you to be responsive and not reactive) – and get prepared for the next time you expend energy.

Its rhythmic. Often, it just takes a moment.

Really, all of life is a wave – a rhythm.

I just wanted to share this moment with you this week.

It so reminded me about the recovery concept that changed my life – waves of energy and the profound impact it has on our riding.

I hope you have a great week. Bye bye. Leave a comment for me.

  4. Oops – somehow my comment didn’t make it. Operator error. No problem – try again.

Thank you for sharing your time at the beach with us. I loved hearing the sound of the ocean and seeing the beauty that surrounds us.

The wave of energy expenditure and recovery makes so much sense in our riding, and, in particular, in the show pen. I’ll continue to practice at home so that recovery is conditioned and can be summoned when needed.

  6. Thanks Barb! I really love this video, and how you simplified the rhythm of life as compared to a wave. 🌊 We have had some family drama recently and the sheer peacefulness of the ocean ebbing and flowing helped me to draw a breath and get my energy back. You are such a positive force. 💞

Had a miss step in my goals yesterday and just finished re visiting my journal and looking at how I have come with this horse and the changes we made this year and to get to work on helping both of us grow in areas we need help with. ❤️
