A Re-energizing Walk

It was a beautiful day in Texas. I was with my boy, Nick.

I’ve been home for a couple of days after quite a stint away. It’s interesting that when you put out a lot of emotional and physical energy, it’s essential to restore your energy.

And that’s one of my favorite ideas I’ve learned over the years, whether it’s in a moment when you’re riding—you and your horse take a breath—or if it’s in the bigger picture for sleep – or if it’s in the bigger picture coming home and allowing your body to recharge.

That’s what this video is all about.

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:

I have a little challenge with that because I tend to go, go, go.

This morning, I was thinking about the topic of this video. I realized I needed to get grounded and rested, so I decided to ride through the canopy of trees on our driveway.

We’ve been working on our beautiful trees, cleaning and trimming them a bit. I’ve wanted to be under the trees, walking with Nick, or taking a little walk on the ground. It feels energizing. So I wanted you to have a little ride with me this morning.

We have to train recovery—our ability to re-energize. By that, I mean we have to make a conscious effort to do so. Restoring our energy is the number one thing that allows us to sustain energy.

We expend energy and then get it back. The latter must be done deliberately, or else we deplete our energy reserves.

I’m doing that this morning, and I’m sharing it with you. I hope you have a wonderful week.

Please feel free to leave a comment for me.

  2. It was lovely to get to go for a short walk with you & Nick today! I’m hoping to get out to the back fields on Angie soon…I have missed those “Nature Walks”!

  6. Hi Barb, It’s so nice to hear your voice again. Sounds like you have really been on the go lately and away from home for quite awhile. I’ll bet Nic enjoyed his walk on the driveway under those pretty trees that are leafing out for the spring. I remember your interview with Dr. Jim Lehrer (sp?) that I’ve listened to about 4 times now. Close to the end of your talk with him, he explained how our energy is of the utmost importance for our lives. We really can’t do anything unless we have enough energy. So recharging is very, very important. Thank you for the reminder and I hope you get to relax at home and restore your energy now!!! 🙂
