“I KNEW THAT WAS YOU”

The morning after Zane made his transition to a heavenly life, I got in my car and turned on the radio. Immediately the song “Holes In the Floor of Heaven” came on. (Perhaps if you have not listened to this song in a long time, you are meant to hear it now.)

At that moment, I knew Zane was letting me know he was fine and in a wonderful place. I believe that Zane somehow, some way sent that song to me to help soothe my aching heart. And it did.

Since that day I continue to experience another little “wink” experience from Zane, the number 44.

You see, Zane signed his emails and notes Z44. Forty-four was his jersey number. My husband and I decided to make Z44 the brand on our personal horses. Then I started seeing 44s everywhere … and I still do.

Coincidence? Maybe. But I don’t think my waking up to 2:44 on the clock in the middle of the night, or seeing 44s on license plates most days are all coincidences.

What matters to me is my experience of an ongoing connection … a new relationship with my sweet boy where love abounds. I know I will see Zane again. And I know he is often with me. For now, these winks, these moments, are such a meaningful part of my healing.

Do you feel your loved one? How do you experience it?

It doesn’t have to be a tangible “sign.” It can be as simple as a thought of how much you love the one who is no longer here. In that moment there is a sweet connection. As we embrace this “new” relationship, I believe our healing is enhanced.

    2. Hello Barbra,

    My sign from my husband of over 30 years was and still is a hawk. Shortly after his passing a hawk landed on the corral fence and just stayed watching over me as I finished my chores. Not every hawk is Dannie’s messenger, but I can feel when he is watching over me and most certainly I will see a hawk flying or sitting nearby.

    Like you I know I will be with Dannie again. Until then I cherish the feeling of protection he provides when he sends a messenger.

Barbara, shortly after my husband death, I was at a car dealer contemplating getting another car (the car I had used to transport him to and from treatments held many bad memories), suddenly over the intercom our wedding song began to play (Dan Fogelberg/Longer). I broke down in tears as I knew he was telling me it was okay to buy the car. I still get signs that he is watching over me, but none as direct as that.
    I would like to share a very strong statement that Hospice shared with me, it has helped me greatly in my healing. “Remember that he lived before he died.” Blessing to all. Judy

    4. Not only do I get messages from people who have passed, but messages from my beloved horses. They come in dreams and feelings of warmth and closeness.

    5. My sign is a male cardinal or a pair of cardinals. My son, Phil, passed into his eternal home when he was 14 from brain cancer. He felt that the cardinal was his sign of comfort from God, and now I feel it is too. I see cadinals so very often and it is something I definitely still share with my much loved son.
