This week, I spoke with a couple of people who were mentally flogging themselves because their show results didn’t go well. It just so happens they were showing in classes that were new to them. They had very little opportunity to develop solid skills before the show.
They would never expect a friend or family member to do well in those same circumstances. Yet, it’s not uncommon for people to blame themselves, even if their expectations are unrealistic. “Ugh! I should have been able to do that!” are the words heard round the world! ☺️
The confusion often arises from failing to distinguish between information, education, and genuine skill development.
This week’s video explores the lesser-known fact that we are the primary drivers of our own learning. If we don’t take responsibility for our learning, our road to success may be much longer and filled with multiple curves and downturns. We may end up falsely blaming ourselves, too.
There’s no transcript this week. Enjoy the film!
