Time to Reset and Recharge

I’ve been traveling a lot over the past month. I’ve had fabulous experiences with incredible people. I am truly grateful.

I’m home now for a while. When I filmed this, I was getting ready to do one of my favorite events of the year, a “Cow Intensive” clinic with my friend, Shannon Pigott. But after that, my pace will be slower, and I get to hang out inside a new course with a new class – and I love that.

This video is all about how important it is to renew our physical, mental, and emotional energy for ourselves and as we ride our horses. I take a casual trail for no other reason than to be on Nic, relax and be with you.

One of my favorite concepts in the study of growing our joy and potential is the idea of recovery.

Recovery is when we get our energy back – and that can be mind, body, or emotional energy.

It’s exactly like a bank account. For financial health, we must put more money in the account than we take out. Our mental, emotional and physical energy is the same.

But of course, at least for me, I tend to stretch the envelope a bit on getting my physical energy back. That’s because I love to do so many things, and I don’t always slow down to listen to myself.

But also, getting our physical, mental, or emotional energy back must be trained.

That’s what I’m doing this morning.

Take time to renew your energy in every way. It is when you grow. And it is one of the secrets of balanced living, joy, and productivity.

Have a great week. Please leave a message for me!

  2. Totally agree. This is the time of year that I start planning for the next year and looking forward and backward a bit to see what I could have done better, what worked and what didn’t work, and what I just want to leave behind. It is definitely a time to recharge, and it is time when I hunker down with my favorite mentors and really take their words to heart. So much of what is true for my horses is true for my business. With a new mare for the show season, I am looking forward to really getting with her and taking all that I have learned and use it to the best of my ability. Exciting time indeed!

  4. R and R …rest and recharge. It’s so important to me and not so easily done on a daily basis. Thank you for the Reminder’s to R and R.

    Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

  6. Your R&R strategy is a great one, one I can hear in your voice/breath, Barb. Right now I’m in the throes of planning & cooking for a crowd, which is always a wonderful time (once the potatoes are mashed and the gravy comes off the stove). Then it will be a few days of settling down, pounding leftovers, smelling the “snowflakes”, and enjoying the quiet of the season before the next “Uptick” is required. Happy Birthday!! and know we are all thankful for you in our lives.

  8. Hard to even find time to reenergize and recharge. It needs to be built into your schedule. Happy Thanksgiving!

  12. Thanks for coaching us to coach ourselves! What a beautiful reminder, that I have the capacity to do that for myself (& Fanny Mae). Today we just hung out in the sun together, it was pure joy. It was all about relaxation. When Fanny just stood with me & took a deep breathe, I thought to myself, we can create more of that! Restorative & exciting all at the same time. Thanks Barb!

  28. Hi Barb, A Very Happy Birthday to you today!!! From your podcasts, and Sunday videos, along with the free Confidence Within, and your active clinics, and Fort Worth gathering, and the Brave Warriors (not sure if that’s the right title) competition, etc etc. you have been EXTREMELY BUSY. So now is a great time for you to get to relax and recharge while you mentor those in your more intense seminar of Confidence Within. I would have loved to have been able to sign up, but the timing just was not right for me. I appreciate so much all that you do for me, in so many ways. I’ve enjoyed your podcasts very much also. Happy Birthday

  34. This may be my favorite concept. I have always pushed hard to do a lot of things and half of it wasn’t fun because I was tired. Now that I have given myself permission to rest and re-charge, I almost like it more than doing all of those “things”!

  38. Barb and Shannon just hosted a group of us at Club Cowgirl just across the street from where she filmed the video. Talk about refreshed and recharged! Ask Barb for more details. Plus we did yoga each morning on our Horse. “Namaste sitting deep in my saddle”
