I do consider myself a confident rider. However, I am sure I can learn some valuable information from you. My unconfidence shows up in other areas of my life, branching out in a new career, etc. Will this course help me with that?

I am happy to read the comments and find that I am not alone in starting to ride as an older person. At age 66 I felt the need to do something for myself now that kids were gone and my husband and I were near retirement. I’ve wanted to ride all my life but was not so privileged. At age 66 I discovered a riding barn near our home…I was thinking trail riding. As it turned out, this barn trains and shows Morgans. I worked hard in riding lessons and my husband bought a show horse for me at… Read more »

I’m so happy to meet you! Nothing is impossible! As a young girl, I was a “technically” good rider; i.e., Western! I haven’t ridden for years, and know I need to stretch and get myself into physical shape and strength! A strong physically fit rider is logically in better shape to succeed than the “wet noodle” dripping off the saddle! How sad would that be? I’m starting from scratch! I don’t have a horse yet, but I will! I love them all! But before I make the purchase, I want to work with me! Thank you for being there for… Read more »

Hi Barbara. Thanks for sharing these insights in the first lesson. I lack confidence around other people and prefer to ride alone or with one or two select friends when possible. I don’t compete at all. I like to ride trails. I’ve had some issues with both of my horses- and I’m working on building mutual trust. We are making progress, but always can learn more.

Cynthia, I can really relate to this. I know I have the skills but for some reason what my long time riding companions think makes a huge difference in my enjoyment and confidence as I ride. I’m working hard on being able to let it go… I need more strategies for that.

Thank you Barb. The confidence within is the most relevant for me. I’ve always struggled with self confidence and a belief in my own abilities, even though people tell me often I have many talents.

Thanks, Barbra. The first 3 lessons have inspired me to tell my story. At age 64, Hank, the rescue horse that adopted ME 3 years previously, launched me into the hospital with a concussion (helmet on), internal bleeding, a broken rib and five broken vertebrae. Turns out he has kissing spines and is not ridden anymore. Needless to say, my confidence was shaken. I also carried a lot of guilt about not recognizing what my “heart horse” was trying to tell me. My family and fiancé assumed my riding days were over and didn’t understand (at first) why I still have… Read more »

Thank you for this! I was almost ready to give up because my progress has been very slow. Now I feel like perservering. Trying to work on confidence within.

Confidence to Ride is my main objective. I have a new horse I want to train in Working Equitation, a sport I love for its fun, challenge and how much I learn along with my mount. I am 66 yo, had a serious fall from a horse in the Gila Wilderness 8 years ago. I am riding again after concussion, surgery and also therapy for PTSD. I like what I heard & understood in the first video, that you have scientific evidence for your work. Thank you!

Yes, Karen… in fact, as we progress through these next 10 days, you’ll get the opportunity to hear some stories about how this approach to building confidence helps with riding, but also, life in general. In fact, I can share with you that this part of my teaching (helping in everyday life in general) is one of my greatest joys. Great question.

Heh, Lyn, I really believe that our instincts are the wisest. Hopefully you can keep discovering more about her and build a mutual and well-found trust. Caution is good.

Hi Barbra, I know I’m going to love this course! For me – confidence within, a huge struggle all my life in everything. I can’t wait to learn more in your next courses. Confidence to ride – I’ve just gotten back to riding in the last five years. Anxiety about ageing and riding is factored in as I have hip stuff going on. Riding is my largest joy right now so I just want to continue and enjoy!

Hi thanks for the first lesson as a older rider I think we let confidence get to use and comments from other people. Looking forward to the next lesson
