Relaxing and breathing when you first get on really resonated with me. I live my horse i have only had her 6 months and she us the first horse i have owned and hadn’t ridden in 6 years. I ride lesson horses and my confidence or lack if comes from thinking my horse is smarter then me lol. Nobody had worked with her for a very long time and i am working with a trainer and have learned to do the groundwork and bonding and i absolutely live learning and working with her but she does let me know if… Read more »
Hi, Tess… yes! I’m delighted you’re here.
Thank you, Linda! It’s a privilege to spend time with you, too!
Hi, Cindy… welcome! I think you’ll find some good tools in these videos.
Hi, Kristi, Welcome, welcome. So glad you’re with us.
Why do I ride? Because it makes me happy. I am grateful.
This lesson was awesome and just what I need at this time in my life!! I am definitely going to share this with some friends that I think will benefit from it!! Thank you Barbra!!!
The blurry part for me is not to get too caught up with what my horse is doing and instead stay with my grounding and my calm.as I listend through the lesson I suddenly realised how much my worries are from thinking about the horse and that I may not know the horse well enough and suddenly I realise I dont have to.I am the one sitting on the horse and its me I need to focus on first because the horse will pick up.I never saw it that way.I knew I had to work on myself but it was… Read more »
The mind, body, and emotions connection resonated with me. It’s one of those things I do know and often reminders come when they’re most needed – like watching this lesson. My little ‘aha’ moment was just how often I can get caught up in my ‘head voices’ and not be aware of the tension it’s causing in my body, which can then lead to the potential to have a little (or big) emotional ‘meltdown’ and leave me wondering, ‘Where in the world did THAT come from?’ 🙂 And I do smile because when I can laugh at myself, it helps… Read more »
Hi, Deborah… I think all areas apply to most if not all of us! (-:
I feel the same way you do. Health issues with loved ones has been a challenge for me for several months. Fortunately, I am always able to put that aside when I enter the gate at the barn. That’s my time with my guy. And it’s magic! Love him for all that he gives me. Maybe you could try to turn the spigot off when you enter through the barn gate.
It only made me sad to answer these questions. Why do I have a horse? I wanted a horse ever since I remember myself. Must have been genetic – I was born to like horses and to ride. However, I had no opportunity until I grew up and had my own money. As an adult, I sacrificed everything I had or could have, for opportunities to ride. Spent all my money, neglected my primary career and relationships. My lack of time (having full time job in city centre), talent, and initial poor choices in riding instructors, meant that I spent… Read more »
I am so thankful for my mare, Lady but I don’t let her know how much I appreciate her and being able to have her in my life. I love this video and plan on changing that.,
Mind, Body and Emotions resinated with me. I feel a lot of weight right now with the way the world is. I have had a lot of disappointment in things getting changed or canceled and I know that is affecting my emotions which in turns affects my riding. I need to look at the positives in life.
To underscore how much I need this, I find myself asking if I even belong here. I don’t own a horse (can’t afford the care), but they have always been a passion. I have an excellent teacher with an excellent lesson horse, and I’ve been riding for a couple of years and learning every time I ride. I have made progress, but anxiety and balance struggles are always in the background. I know I will find help here.
Thank you very much for these videos! Mind, Body, and Emotions are one – a reminder that negative emotions cause physical reactions. That was important to me, as well as to connect with your horse as you mount up, and let any tense feelings go. Very helpful reminder!
I understand, Marilyn. It sounds like you are making progress, and hopefully these lessons will help you, too. Welcome.
