It’s a privilege to spend time with you. Thanks for this opportunity. I think the “WITH” point, and technical skills are my present focus.

I have a talented little warmblood mare who is just lovely lots of the time, but sometimes her brain goes out the window, she gets really tense and worried, often even when just tied up before saddling or after riding, then I get tense and anxious. For instance, on Tuesday she was terrible, the cows bellowing set her off. Today she was good tied up and nothing unsettled her. She is also a bit horse shy and reactive and although I have had her for 5 years, I have had two falls in the last year, which have made me quite… Read more »

I am 70 years old, I had horses as a teenager and rode mainly for pleasure and some trail riding. I lacked the confidence to show after the first try. I trained my half arab and helped my sisters to learn to ride. The first horse I bought as an adult was not as well trained as I thought and I was afraid to ride her because I had a lot of responsibilities so I was afraid I might get injured and I had someone telling me just get on which didn’t help. I have two quarter horses currently a… Read more »

Thank you for an interesting first lesson. I have two Morgan geldings and I resonate to a different secret for each one. My 11 year old Chance I resonate to Confidence to Ride because I have sought the mentor ship of a long time friend and trainer and he is currently in training for Western Dressage and I will start real soon. It is our first try at the discipline. My other gelding, Frankie, is a little more difficult. I resonate with Confidence Within more with him as we work on our emotional connection together and with me to be… Read more »

When I first got my 3.5 yo horse, several people asked me what trainer I was going to take her to. I thought that was a strange question. After some thought, I realized that they didn’t know me very well. I am 70 years old and this isn’t my first rodeo. I couldn’t bear the thought that I would turn my beautiful, sweet mare over to a stranger, and I didn’t. I have started riding her and I have started to look for a dressage trainer to give me some lessons. It has been a while since I had a… Read more »

Hi, Mary… I enjoyed your story. Thank you for sharing. You are so on the right track. Good for you. I like the Queen, too!

I enjoyed the first video. I’m 64 and show AQHA ranch riding, ranch trail and sometimes ranch reining. You hit home when you discussed nerves, anxiety and distractions. (I flip out over the potential of my horse spooking!). I regained a lot of confidence in the last three years, surprised myself and qualified for all the AQHA World Shows (VRH, Select and Lucas) BUT I’m still a ‘chicken’ rider whenever there are distractions and when asked to (gulp) extend my lope! I’m hoping somehow I can find the magic bullet to help me!

I think all apply to me so far; just trying to connect better with my horse.

Hello Barb and thank you for lesson one. I believe I need help with all three. I recently got a haflinger gelding that was amish owned a work horse and ridden by the kids I was told. He is green broke to riding but I hoped with being 15 years old he would be pretty settled. Well where I have him both boarded at has 90 acres. He is in a paddock right now until they have a stall open but when I am out there I let him graze some after short rides, walking is good but when asked… Read more »

I am so excited for learning the Three Secrets. Thank you , Barb, for creating these videos! I had lost my riding confidence with a spooky horse that I realized needed more exercise than I could give him. After a few falls (I no longer bounce) I knew he needed a different situation. I recently purchased a Halflinger mare that came from a bad situation. But, even though she is typical of the breed, we are (baby steps!) making progress, mostly in hand to start. (She had 5 weeks with my trainer) I am not afraid of her as she… Read more »

Such helpful information given clearly. Thank you Barbra. All the areas apply to me. It took me a while to recognize and accept that some riding friends were not where my horses and I belonged. A new group is moving me forward in confidence and stretching my skills. I believe this course will be very helpful to me and my horses.
