Thank you for giving me something to Think about. I very easely get anxios, when riding and the horse Seem to go faster than I like, then I find it very hard to relaxe
WOOOOHOOOO! This is a great story. This will be so helpful to you, I hope.
Well, I let the whole thing play while I went out a worked with my horse and when i came back in it plays fine but the volume is so low and your voice fades out at the end of sentences so I can hardly make out your message. Sorry, but it’s frustrating to take time to watch and listen and miss a bunch of info.
Hi, Georgetta. You are so welcome. THANK YOU for being here!
Hello! Thank you for this wonderful lesson. I think confidence to ride resonated the most with me. I have gotten older and in the last year have not been able to ride as much as I used to. I just got a horse to grow old with for trail riding because that is really what I want to do with a horse partner at this point in my life. I find myself not as confident in my body or skills as I used to be! I have to work at the calm and focused mindset. Fear comes up for me… Read more »
Hi, Julie… you’re so welcome! Thank you for being here.
Lesson 1 was excellent. I am always working on confidence issues so this is great information.
Hi, I have been away from riding for a while and I now have a very green horse to train. I plan to ride her. I’m worried about it. I’m older now (77) and naturally I have some fears. How can I put all that away and just concentrate on having fun with her?
Thank you. Mine would be “within” and distractions. How to controll my own nerves and handle my equine while surrounded by distractions. I get frustrated when she pays more attention or reacts to the distractions and I can’t achieve my goals. I board, so I have no say so on what is going on .
My most difficult boundary is confidence to ride.
I’m hard on myself and my horse to get it just right!
I try deep breaths and just stoping what I’m doing with my horse, regroup and start again. Maybe start again working on something else.
Hi, Becky. Good for you. I think you’re doing some good things that you can build on from here.
Hi, Tina. I’m so happy you’re on Al’s email list and you’re here, too! I think a lot of times we try to improve our ‘mental game’ but we need to understand it more… and integrate those tools into our riding. I’m glad you’re here!

my mom and I own 2 horses who live with us. I had lessons for a year and got reared and then a little later I rode this horse who was drugged and bucked me off I’ve never been in a canter and I’m not experienced so it really affected how I felt around horses so we recently bought two horses one is a 15 year old mare and the other a 11 year old gelding. I am completely in love with both but the gelding peanut is my baby I adore him and trust him so I decided to… Read more »

Hi, Maria! I’m so glad you’re here. I hope you find some good ideas in these lessons. I know you are an awesome person with your horse and in life.
Hello! This couldn’t have come to me at a better time. I am an avid barrel racing and breakaway roper. I had a race last night and my lack of confidence really messed up my run. No fault to my horse. I am excited to work through these lessons and work on myself. One of the three secret that stuck with me is confidence with. I moved to a very small town and I am the only barrel racer here. My network of friends and support live about an hour away and I don’t have them to give me pointers… Read more »
I’m having trouble opening the lesson. Help
So sorry, Kathy. My voice is naturally soft. It plays fine on our end. All I can suggest are things you’re prob already doing, like volume up all the way… and also, sometimes the internet connection can impact volume. Again, I’m so sorry.
I understand, Sally. I hope these lessons give you some great tools to help you navigate those thoughts and experiences. (-:
