On February 22nd I Conducted the Second Teleclass in a Two-Part Mental Strategies Series

Here are the Five Areas I Covered During That Class:

  • A review of the basic tenants of this training
  • An explanation of a very practical three-part framework for constantly improving your mental game and helping you turn your challenges into strengths
  • Strategic ways to help you overcome your fears using the specific example of recovering from a horse accident
  • Powerful tools that work to help you replace pre-competition jitters with confidence and focus
  • Answers to your live questions

  2. I just enjoyed the second teleclass and want to thank you for providing both of them. I found the tools you suggest for overcoming fear and for helping in competition very interesting. I am going to use them this year to help when I show.

  6. Although I don’t compete in riding, I do compete and I love these teleclasses! Gives me things to mull over and practice in short bites. Sometimes reading lots of ideas in a book is a little overwhelming. I absorb much more in this smaller format which is really connecting all the larger ideas together. Thanks. I look forward to the next teleclass.

  8. This was an especially great class for me and a reminder of why I ride. I do penning and sorting at USTPA events. I have only been riding for 7 years and had no idea of how difficult success is to come by. Admittedly, I have thrown myself to the wolves by choosing to ride with many people who have done this for many years but I do not think you can be the best if you do not hang out with the best. It has taught me many lessons in humility. Many of the points about remembering why I ride and preparing my horse for competition hit home–especially the part about having a horse who is not as talented as I would like. But, we are working hard at it. Thanks for the great thoughts.

  10. I found the teleclass very helpful not just for my area of interest with horses (barrel racing) but also for some problems I am having with confidence at work. Currently I have a difficult boss who is treating me disrespectfully in meetings, making me dread them and just feel awful overall — sort of the way you might feel after having an accident with a horse – no confidence! I’ve decided to use the principles discussed in the telecast to help with my work problems and build back my confidence. This telecast came at a good time for me; I was feeling very down. Thanks – I am looking forward to the next one!!

  12. Thank you for the segment on returning to riding/competition after an accident. I can relate, following a fall from my tried and tested bomb-proof cutting horse. Seemed a good idea at the time to exercise my 13 year old gelding, bareback. While sitting on him chatting with realitives, he was spooked by who knows what, and I came off backwards landing on packed ground. A fractured pelvis and several cracked ribs later, I learned never to be that complacent again. Long story even longer, I started riding sooner than I perhaps should have, but wihtout any ill effects. I truly believe that today I am a better rider, because of the injury. I learned to have a quieter seat, because it was uncomfortable to move around as much as I have been. I sit my stops better, and ride more balanced. Sometimes good things come from unfortunate events. By the way greetings from the lower Methow Valley, your “old home”. We have had an easy Winter, so easy I was riding outdoors, getting legged-up in January.

  14. The teleclass was a gift. Thak you.. You spoke to more than just the horse experience. The techniques that you presented are more universal in their application. Yet, given the right horse, a person could go all the way to the NCHA Futurity with your information!
