“WATCH the COW!”

You’ve heard, “Watch the cow,” sooo many times.

It IS important for a number of reasons.

The cow is what’s happening at any given moment in cutting. It’s like the tennis ball in tennis.

There is one big difference between the cow and a tennis ball.

In tennis, if you take your eye off the ball, you won’t even be in the game! In cutting, if you take your eye off the cow, your horse might cover for you.

“You Gotta Believe!”

Well, I take that back. You don’t have to believe!

I do know however, you will achieve your dreams … or at least, move closer in the direction of what you want to accomplish … when you believe.

It’s soooo easy to base all we think will happen on the evidence of what is happening right now.

But belief and faith are the opposites of basing your opinions and hopes solely on what’s happening right now. In fact, that’s why I like this verse so much, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” ~Hebrews 11:1

“Bits and Comfortable Mouths”

It is super easy to just grab a bridle out of the tack room without giving much thought about why you are choosing that particular one.

It’s also easy to use whatever bit you always use. It’s easy to try a bit because someone else recommended it in general (not even for your horse, especially).

But, it’s important to become knowledgeable about bits and bridles because this is THE contact piece of equipment a horse feels in his tender mouth via the action of your hands.
